Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School fifth-grade classes recently welcomed seniors from Karisa Beyer’s senior Cosmetology class to learn all about the program’s offerings! Ms. Beyer began the visit with a presentation giving an overview of the cosmetology industry, the types of careers available to cosmetologists and the types of activities students engage in part of the academy!

After learning about the program, each fifth-grade student partnered up with a senior cosmetology student to practice several types of braids on a mannequin. Then, the fifth-grade students had the opportunity to get their hair styled by the cosmetology students. They chose between one of four different kinds of braids or colorful tinsel styled into their hair.

This collaboration gave the senior cosmetology students a fun way to practice their skills and the fifth-grade students a chance to make some new friends from the high school and see one of the many exciting learning opportunities that await them as high schoolers!
