The annual Teachers’ Story Corner summer reading program, featuring elementary school teachers from the William Floyd School District, will be returning to the Mastic-Moriches-Shirley Community Library this summer! The first session will take place this Thursday, July 9 from 5 pm to 6 pm and will continue every Thursday through August 20. Please note that there will NOT be a session Thursday, July 30. The six sessions will be held at one of the Mastic-Moriches-Shirley Community Library’s three locations, with the first session taking place at the Moriches Branch.

The Teachers’ Story Corner has been taking place for more than a decade and has given children in the community the chance to enjoy some exciting, age-appropriate read-alouds from their favorite William Floyd teachers. The program is designed to give children an engaging literary experience while they are away from the classroom and to help families learn to navigate their local library.

• July 23 - Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School Night (Main Branch @ 407 William Floyd Parkway, Shirley)
• July 30 - No session
• Aug.  6 - John S. Hobart/Moriches Elementary Night (Moriches Branch @ 201 Montauk Highway, Moriches)
• Aug. 13 - William Floyd Learning Center Night (Mastic Beach Branch @ 369 Neighborhood Road, Mastic Beach)
• Aug. 20 - William Floyd Elementary School Night Main Branch @ 407 William Floyd Parkway, Shirley)

Any family with at least one child entering sixth grade or younger are welcome to attend as many sessions as they’d like; prior registration is not required. Additionally, librarians will be available to provide information about the library, answer any questions and help families pick out books for their children.
