The William Floyd School District has achieved a significant milestone: a 95% graduation rate for the four-year cohort that graduated in 2026. This achievement reflects more than a decade of sustained progress and the district’s continued investment in instruction, innovative course offerings, interventions, student supports, and expanded pathways to graduation.

Since 2015-16, William Floyd’s four-year graduation rate for general education students has increased from 80% to 95%. Even more significantly, the four-year graduation rate for students with disabilities has risen from 46% to 85%, a remarkable 39-percentage-point increase over that same period. Looking at the district’s longer-term trajectory, the overall four-year graduation rate has increased from 67% in 2006-07 to 95% in 2025-26, representing a 28-percentage-point increase.

The William Floyd School District currently serves approximately 9,647 students, representing a diverse and dynamic community. The district provides a broad range of academic, extracurricular, special education, multilingual, social-emotional, and student support services designed to meet the needs of its students and families. The district also offers a thriving in-house Career and Technical Education program featuring nine academy-style programs, including Automotive Technology, Barbering, Carpentry, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Marine & Motorsports, Medical Assisting, Personal Trainer & Group Fitness, and, new this year, the Mental Health Professional Academy. The district also features award-winning music and fine arts programs, a strong interscholastic athletics program, robotics, clubs, and numerous other opportunities for students to explore their interests and develop their talents.

Expanding Opportunities for Students
William Floyd’s continued academic progress is supported by a comprehensive approach to student success. The district has expanded individualized programming, targeted interventions, evidence-based instructional practices, social-emotional supports, and multiple pathways designed to help students remain engaged and graduate prepared for the next step in their journeys, whether that is college, a career, or service in the armed forces.

The district also continues to strengthen its programming for its substantial multilingual population. Approximately 1,477 students are identified as English Language Learners, underscoring the importance of multilingual programming and instructional practices that provide students with meaningful access to the curriculum while supporting their continued academic growth.

William Floyd also serves approximately 1,592 students with disabilities. The significant increase in the graduation rate for this subgroup demonstrates the impact of the district’s focus on individualized programming, inclusive practices, targeted interventions, and coordinated student supports. William Floyd’s Universal Pre-Kindergarten program also remains strong, providing families with an important early-learning opportunity and helping establish a foundation for future academic success.

The district remains committed to addressing changing student needs, the ongoing demand for specialized and individualized programming, competition from charter schools, and other challenges while maintaining a clear focus on student achievement and opportunity.
