The William Floyd School District is pleased to announce alternate dates for the senior prom and a traditional graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 contingent upon social distancing and large gathering limitation guidelines being eased to accommodate large gatherings.

*Senior Prom: Thursday, July 30 from 1 pm – 5 pm at Villa Lombardi’s (Holbrook)
*Graduation Ceremony: Saturday, August 1 at 10 am

*Again, the senior prom (July 30) and graduation ceremony (August 1) are contingent upon social distancing/large gathering restrictions per our government officials; and, if these events do take place, there may be restrictions that we must abide by such as a spectator limits, social distancing, masks/gloves, etc. Please note that the district will abide by all restrictions set in place.

The previously announced senior plans will still go on as scheduled:

Curbside Graduation (June 22-26)
This will take place over five days and be split up by last name with portions of graduates/families being assigned a particular date and time slot. Parents/families will arrive to the north entrance of the high school, pull up in their cars, the graduate gets out, walks up on a small stage that has been decorated beautifully with the high school as the backdrop, gets their diploma cover, has their name announced and a photo taken, which will then be provided free to families. This way also gives families the chance to actually see their senior graduate up-close and in-person from the safety of their vehicle. Pictures will be allowed to be taken from the vehicle. Additional details will be available in the weeks to come.  

Commencement Video (June 27 at 10 am)
There will be a formal virtual graduation video tribute to our seniors with the official certification and reading of the Regents decree by the superintendent. This will occur in a video that will go live on Saturday, June 27 at 10 am, across all of the district’s platforms including the website, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Instagram will refer people to the other platforms.

Academic Awards Night (June 3 at 7 pm)
The district will pre-record a tribute highlighting the academic achievements of our senior award recipients. This will be made live on June 3, 2020 at 7 pm across all of the district’s platforms including the website, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Instagram will refer people to the other platforms.

Scholarship Night (June 10 at 7 pm)
The district will pre-record a scholarship night video hosted by Principal Philip Scotto and members of his administrative team. This will be made live on June 10, 2020 at 7 pm across all of the district’s platforms including the website, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Instagram will refer people to the other platforms.

Senior Lawn Signs
The district is working to acquire two sets of "Class of 2020" lawn signs featuring each graduate’s picture – one to display on our grounds and the other for the seniors and their families to proudly display on their lawns, should they wish to do so. The high school will reach out to families when completed.
