Coinciding with the beginning of March and the celebration of Youth Art & Music Month, the William Floyd School District Fine Arts Department hosted their largest districtwide art show to date! Now held in William Floyd High School’s south lobby, the Fine Arts department welcomed hundreds of community residents to take in all of the stunning visual artwork made by students from across the district. Members of the National Art Honor Society served refreshments and provided face painting and other activities for younger children, while talented student-musicians Maggie Hua, Raymond Lizzol, Samantha Valentin and Mariella Zambito performed music for all guests to enjoy.

“The districtwide art show became an important event several years ago, as a way to showcase all of our young artists in one large culminating event,” said Theresa Bianco, chairperson, Fine Arts, William Floyd School District. “As you walk through the exhibit there is an evolution of art skills and techniques that are demonstrated as students move from grade to grade, emphasizing a very well-structured art curriculum at William Floyd. Our parents and students are invited to see their children’s selected artwork on display and share an evening of crafts, face painting and music hosted by the National Art Honor Society students.”

Previously held in the high school’s auditorium lobby, this annual event has grown so much over the past several years that a move to the south lobby was necessary to provide more space and accommodate the young artists and their family members as they move around and take in all of the exhibited work. “This move is an example of how our community is excited and consistently supportive of our students-artists and the Fine Arts department,” Mrs. Bianco added.
