The William Floyd School District Fine Arts Department, under the leadership of Fine Arts chairperson Theresa Bianco, recently hosted their annual Districtwide Art Show! This event is arranged by members of the National Arts Honor Society and all K-12 art teachers as a way to showcase the beautiful pieces created in William Floyd art classes across the district. Families and friends of the student-artists as well as members of the community were invited to take in the wonderful art display, while members of the National Arts Honor Society provided face painting and several other fun art activities for younger guests.

“The artwork displayed encapsulates a clear K-12 curriculum connection to the sciences, history, various cultures, math, English and technology,” said Mrs. Bianco. “It focuses on the development of specific skills, techniques and materials taught throughout the students’ years in the art rooms and reflects their growth. Each piece was thoughtfully selected by the art teachers and kept our visitors discussing the work and admiring the amazing skills our students have.”

The Districtwide Art Show also coincides with Youth Art & Music Month, a nationwide celebration that takes place each March and emphasizes the importance of fine arts education in schools.
