William Paca Middle School eighth-grader Adriany Hernandez was named the William Floyd School District Artist of the Month for February! Adriany is a highly-skilled student-artist in Mr. Marco Antenucci’s Exploring Art Materials class who has a unique, expressive and eye-catching style that has captivated her teachers and classmates alike. She is a confident artist who can create stunning pieces of artwork using various artistic styles or mediums, with some of her most proficient areas being in drawing, illustration, painting and ceramics. Mr. Antenucci noted that her beautiful use of color and affinity for rendering life-like detail in her work seems to come to her naturally.

“I have had the pleasure of teaching her Visual Art for the past two years and I am always amazed at Adriany’s unique perspective and harmonious use of color that brings her work to life,” said Mr. Antenucci. “Her work ethic is undeniable and consistent, and the courage she shows in artistic experimentation is that of a seasoned artist well above her years.”

“Adriany was honored for her dedication and love for art; she has a great eye for detail and rendering nature," added Theresa Bianco, chairperson, Fine Arts, William Floyd School District. "She took the skills she learned in Mr. Antenucci’s class to create several of her own unique pieces using oil pastel.”

The impromptu oil pastel pieces highlighted by Mrs. Bianco feature separate depictions of a cat, a tiger and flowers (pictured below).

Adriany’s hard work, creativity and attention to detail has led to her being a perennial participant in the annual Districtwide Art Show, with several pieces of her work being featured in various shows. Mr. Antenucci and Mrs. Bianco look forward to following her continued growth as an artist throughout the rest of this school year and in future years as a high school student-artist!

Congratulations, Adriany!
