This Saturday, October 4 at 12 pm, the undefeated William Floyd Colonials (3-0) varsity football team will be hosting the 14^th annual Parkway Power Bowl at the Lincoln Avenue Sports Complex against the 2-1 Longwood Lions! The Colonials, who are led by head coach Paul Longo, have been effective in taming the Lions in this yearly matchup, holding an 11-2 series record including a thrilling 36-29 victory in last year’s matchup.

The Parkway Power Bowl is a yearly contest pitting the two rivals against each other for bragging rights in a key divisional game while promoting the ideals of sportsmanship, goodwill, community relations and healthy competition. The contest is named for the William Floyd Parkway, the road connects both school districts and is served by the Suffolk County Police Department. Aside from bragging rights, the winner gets a plaque with the final score engraved on the trophy, donated by the William Floyd Alumni Association, along with the opportunity to keep it in their school until next year’s game. Officers from the Suffolk County Police Department present the trophy to the winner in a post-game ceremony.

William Floyd is heading into this year’s game undefeated, with their most recent win coming by way of a 34-0 rout of Sachem East on the road. Their defense has been exceptional, with shutouts in back-to-back games. On offense, senior star running back Ja’Quan Thomas picked up right where he left off last season and has already rushed for more than 600 yards and eight touchdowns in just three games.

This should be another exciting game between William Floyd and their Division I rival. The Colonials are looking to stay undefeated and claim bragging rights over the Lions as part of their overall goal of bringing another championship home!
