This play, inspired by Thornton Wilder’s Our Town, takes us to the town of Colchester, Connecticut. It is there we meet Suzanne, the town photographer, who introduces us to the many inhabitants of Colchester, as we watch their relationships bloom and wilt before our eyes.
This is the first full length play that the high school has produced in several years.
“I picked up this script at a bookstore on a whim and immediately fell in love upon reading it,” said William Floyd Theatre Arts director Berkeley Rousseau. “As we have explored these characters and relationships, I have watched the students fall in love with the show too. They are creating some truly beautiful moments that are sure to make the audience laugh, cry, and reflect on their own lives.”
This year, the scope of the program has expanded to include student-led directing.
“In building the theater program, I want to see students step into creative team roles. It’s important to understand that you do not have to be on stage to have a theatrical experience,” said Mr. Rousseau.
For this production, Ashlyn Manion and Michael Pedra have taken on the role of assistant directors, in addition to their roles on stage. They have learned what it takes to run a production and have worked with the actors to further develop their characters.
Cast members include: Janelly Bednarek in the role of the Photographer; Kaelyn Green as the Gravedigger; Michael Pedra as the Hardware Store Owner; Gianna DeMuria-Alvero as the Librarian; Kolton Chamberlain as the History Professor; Katelynn Glover as the Mystery Novelist; Gabriel Villacis as the Young Man; Katerina Fantini as the Young Woman; Ashlyn Manion as the Waitress; Ben Zozzaro as the Perfume Maker; Sam Greene as the Policeman; Isabella McCreery as the Florist; Rajana Heron as Marjory; Mia Balcarcel and Jonathan Sheffey as EMTs; Stefania Conte as Friend/Townsperson; Vanessa Garcia Garcia, Keon Guaba, Diana Hubschman, Brandon Mott, Aidan Rodriguez, and Mars Smothergill as Townspeople.
The William Floyd High School production of Kodachrome is produced by Dr. Amy Sckipp and directed by Berkeley Rousseau. Additional credits include: Erika Licausi, costume designer; Michelle Seifert, scenic designer; and Meghan Jones as props designer.
Mark your calendars for November 1-2! You don’t want to miss it!
