The William Floyd High School Career and Technical Education program (CTE) recently hosted its annual expo to highlight all of the great work being done by the students and staff! All eight of the CTE academy offerings including automotive, barbering, carpentry, cosmetology, culinary arts, marine & motorsports, medical assisting, and personal trainer & nutrition, were in attendance to showcase their respective programs to students who may be interested in joining them next year. The WFHS SkillsUSA team was also present to further highlight the triumphs of CTE students in both regional and statewide skill competitions. William Floyd CTE currently serves nearly 750 students in the eight aforementioned academies in addition to five pathways that students can take toward graduation including accounting, architecture, business marketing & management, engineering, and Microsoft Office specialist.

At the expo, prospective students had the opportunity to talk to current students and instructors about CTE program specifics and begin the application process. They could also engage in several demonstrations hosted by the academies, including getting their hair cut or styled by barbering and cosmetology, doing push-ups with personal training and nutrition and learning proper hammer techniques with carpentry. This event also comes in the midst of the nationwide celebration of CTE Month, which recognizes the value and importance of high school CTE programs around the country in shaping students to be career-ready after graduation.
