The William Floyd High School Colonials girls’ varsity cross country team, under the guidance of head coach John Ryan, just completed a successful regular season with a second-place overall finish in Division I. The Colonials also had a dominant performance at the Section XI Freshman/Sophomore last week and look to continue the momentum at the upcoming Section XI State Qualifier Meet.

At the Freshman/Sophomore Championship Meet, sophomores Anise Cobb, Serenity Wenger and Esther Delille swept the top three spots, respectively, achieving a perfect team score and earning the Sophomore Team Championship! In the freshman race, eighth-grade student-athletes Coral Macchia and Grace Castantine, both from William Paca Middle School, ran season-best times to place second and 19th overall, respectively, an impressive performance by these two student-athletes running at the varsity level.Next up for the Colonials is the Section XI State Qualifier on Thursday, November 6, at Sunken Meadow State Park.

Additionally, several Colonials earned individual honors for their performances this season, including senior Allana Morgan, junior Brianna Smith, sophomore Serenity Wenger, and eighth grader Coral Macchia earning All-League accolades. Allana Morgan, Serenity Wenger, Anise Cobb, and Coral Macchia earned All-Division I honors.

Best of luck to the girls as they prepare to compete at the State Qualifier!
