The William Floyd Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recently held its third annual “Alumni Meet & Greet” in which current students interacted, via Zoom, with 11 former FBLA members from the William Floyd classes of 2016-2020 to discuss various topics of life after high school and their experiences in college. This event was for current FBLA members, Business Honor Society students, as well as students enrolled in Career and Technical Education courses.

Some of the topics discussed included staying motivated, managing time, networking, perseverance, making short- and long-term goals and more. The alumni emphasized that when students enter their next phase of life that it is important to find others to support, guide, and help them stay focused and motivated. They also shared their personal experiences of finding their social niche, college choice, internships, studying abroad and the importance of getting involved in clubs and activities on campus. The FBLA alumni also encouraged the students, when choosing a college, to consider location, programs, course offerings, housing options, campus diversity and atmosphere.

“It was a huge success and beneficial to both the current William Floyd students and the alumni that participated,” said Kristin Puric, advisor, William Floyd High School FBLA.
