The William Floyd High School Counseling Center recently hosted the first of five on-site admissions events set to take place throughout the 2025-26 school year. On-site admissions events present students with the opportunity to talk to representatives from many different colleges and universities about their educational goals and future plans while in the hallways of their own school. Students can get their transcripts evaluated, learn about what each institution has to offer, discuss potential scholarships and, in some cases, receive immediate acceptance!

This on-site admissions event was one of the most successful in school history, as 210 students met with college representatives and were offered a combined total of $1,188,000 in scholarships with even more scholarship amounts still to be determined! There were representatives from 10 colleges and universities present at this event, including SUNY Farmingdale, SUNY Old Westbury, Long Island University, St. Joseph’s University, Pace University, Johnson and Wales University, Mercy University, Iona University, New York Institute of Technology and Suffolk County Community College.

The second on-site admissions event will take place on Friday, December 12, and will feature Suffolk County Community College meeting with students interested in a nursing major only. The third on-site admissions event will take place on Tuesday, December 16 and will feature Suffolk County Community College meeting with students interested in any major. The fourth and fifth on-site admissions events will take place on Wednesday, February 11 and Thursday, April 23, respectively, with both Suffolk County Community College and Eastern Suffolk BOCES in attendance. Medical Assisting also just hosted an in-class admissions event with Fairleigh Dickinson University, who accepted approximately 50 students into their health science/nursing programs. Seniors will head to their New Jersey campus next week for a college visit.
