William Floyd High School chemistry teacher Kristen Drury recently authored an article published in Chemistry Solutions, an online periodical for k-12 chemistry teachers from the American Association of Chemistry Teachers (AACT). The article, “Four Strategies for More Effective Labs” offers fellow chemistry teachers valuable tips on how to make lab exercises meaningful.

“The execution of the labs is an essential skill that teachers need to refine over time in order to make their labs more valuable to their students,” stated Ms. Drury in the article. She has also been tapped by AACT to peer review other articles. Ms. Drury teaches general, advanced placement, Regents and honors chemistry, as well as forensics. She is a 2016 recipient of the Empire State Excellence in Teaching Award and was named a New York State Master Teacher in 2014.
