The William Floyd High School Business Academy recently held its annual Career Café, an event that gives students the opportunity to meet with professionals from various industries for meaningful conversations about their career field.

“Our goal is to give students a clearer vision of their future,” said Jacqueline Giacalone, chairperson, William Floyd High School Business and Technology Education. “Sitting face-to-face with professionals allows them to ask real questions, hear authentic experiences and begin to see themselves in these careers. With 375 students and 75 professionals participating, this event showcases the strength of our community.”

There were also more than 20 William Floyd alumni in attendance at the event to discuss how their time at William Floyd helped prepare them for professional success.

“Having Floyd alumni return makes this event especially meaningful,” added Ms. Giacalone. “It shows students that success is within reach and that their own journey can lead to these same opportunities.”

The career fields represented at this year’s Career Café included: accounting, auto repair, carpentry, civil service, construction, cosmetics, counseling, education, electrical construction, engineering, entrepreneurship, fashion, finance, first responders, food service, forensics, government, healthcare, hospitality, instructional technology, law, manufacturing, management, marine repair marketing, medical, mental health, military, nursing, pharmaceutical, photography, plumbing, radiology, real estate, science, technology, toxicology and more!
