WFHS boys' varsity lacrosse coach Desmond Megna addresses his student-athletes.
William Floyd boys’ varsity lacrosse coach Desmond Megna was recently named the “Mike Bowler Man of the Year” by the Suffolk County Coaches Association. This award recognizes a coach that displays integrity, morals, kindness, honesty, compassion, and a love for the game of lacrosse, his players and the community in which he serves. Coach Megna also serves as a fifth-grade teacher at Moriches Elementary School.
The Mike Bowler Man of the Year award is named for longtime Rocky Point School District lacrosse coach, who passed away in 2019, after a long and storied career in which he amassed 447 wins, while serving as a teacher, coach and mentor.
The William Floyd boys’ varsity lacrosse team finished the 2023-24 season with an 8-8 overall record (7-7 in Division I) and are working hard to ensure their presence is heard next season in Division I.
Congratulations, Coach Megna!
