The 4x100-meter relay team (l-r) Christian Hobson, Isaiah Taylor, Joshua Jordan and Zavier Jenkins celebrate earning a spot in the NYS Championships.
Five William Floyd High School varsity track student-athletes will be heading to the NYS Championships in Middletown, NY, this upcoming weekend to compete for state titles!
The William Floyd High School boys’ track team will be sending their 4 x 100 relay team to the NYS Championships. Led by head coach Ed Noll, this quartet of student-athletes had an incredible performance at the state qualifying meet. The team, consisting of Isaiah Taylor, Zavier Jenkins, Christian Hobson and Joshua Jordan, ran a time of 42.47, finishing second place overall out of every team in Suffolk. That time hit the New York State Super Standard, which gives them an automatic bid to the state tournament. They also broke the school record of 42.84 set in 2012. The team consists of three underclassmen including two sophomores. “They have worked so hard and continue to impress me with their dedication to the sport and what it takes to be successful in it. I can’t wait to see what they do up in Middletown.” said Coach Noll.
In girls’ varsity track (head coach John Ryan), Zariel Macchia won the County Championship in the 1500- and 3000-meter events earning her a spot in the NYS Championship in both events. Congratulations to Zariel on another amazing accomplishment and good luck to all student-athletes competing this weekend!
