Students in Mrs. Carmella Currao’s Career Launchpad class, part of the William Floyd High School Special Education Department’s offerings, recently welcomed former student and alumnus Nick Nappi, back for a discussion about his life after high school. Nick spoke with students and shared about his time at William Floyd, his current job and his journey toward independence.

Mrs. Currao, who served as Nick’s teacher during his time at William Floyd, said that she was thrilled to welcome him back as a guest speaker. “Nick is doing incredibly well. He is working hard at his job at the Long Island Aquarium, taking SCAT (Suffolk County Accessible Transportation) independently to and from work, and has even opened his own bank account. He’s earning his own money and thriving in competitive employment. We are so proud of him and everything he has accomplished!”

After the presentation, Nick answered questions from the students, and encouraged them in their own journeys.

Congratulations, Nick! Keep up the great work!
