WF Elementary Kindergarten class learn a wood-crafting project instructed by the Home Depot

William Floyd Elementary School kindergarten classes recently welcomed employees from Home Depot, to collaborate on a special wood-crafting project. This in-house field trip engaged students and demonstrated how to properly use tools such as a hammer, nails and a screwdriver. Students also learned how to share supplies and the importance of being patient and taking their time to build the project correctly with the help of an adult. When completed, students used paint and crayons to give each of their “snowman fuzzball” projects its own unique flair!

“The students were excited and enthusiastic,” said Victoria Short, kindergarten teacher, William Floyd Elementary School. “We had the Home Depot theme song playing while they worked, which motivated them even more. When the project was complete, students enjoyed playing with their friends. They said they loved the project and said that it was ‘the best day of school ever!"

Participating were students from Kimberly Bahr’s, Caroline Ceglio’s, ToniAnn Edsall’s, Samantha Lewis’s, Helen McDowell’s, Lisa Pedota’s, Alexa Russo’s, and Victoria Short’s classes.
