Update: November 30, 2024

In a wild game, the Colonials fell to Massapequa 42-40 in the Long Island Championship game on Saturday, November 30, at Stony Brook University. The Colonials left it all out on the field and played their hearts out. They have so much to be proud of. Congratulations to the student-athletes and coaches on a great season!

The William Floyd Colonials varsity football team are the 2024 Suffolk County Champions! The Colonials defeated Ward Melville 34-6 at Stony Brook University’s Kenneth P. Lavalle Stadium on Saturday night, marking their second consecutive Suffolk County Championship and the 15th in program history! The Colonials will now battle Massapequa for the Long Island Championship on Saturday, November 30 at 4:30 pm at Stony Brook University!  

In the Suffolk County Championship game, Ja’Quan Thomas continued his amazing season, rushing the ball 30 times for 272 yards and scoring all five Colonial touchdowns. On defense, Geo Alvarez and David Gonzalez each came up with important interceptions while Dashawn Jackson recovered a fumble on a kickoff return. Jake Rivera had a big performance, picking up 11 tackles with 10 resulting in a loss. Aaron Fisher had a team-high 12 tackles with two resulting in a loss while David Gonzalez added 10 tackles with one resulting in a loss.

The Colonials are seeking their sixth Long Island Championship as they look to avenge last year’s Division I Long Island Championship loss to Massapequa.  

Section XI charges an admission fee for this game. The price is $9.40 per ticket ($8 per ticket plus $1.40 service fee). Children 12 and under are free. Please click here to purchase tickets. The No. 1 William Floyd Colonials varsity football team, led by head coach Paul Longo, defeated No. 4 Sachem North 35-14 in the Section XI semifinal playoff to punch their ticket back to the Suffolk County Championship game! The Colonials are looking to repeat as Suffolk County Champions and win their 15th county title overall as they will take on No. 3 Ward Melville on Saturday, November 23 at 7 pm, at Stony Brook University’s Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.

In the semifinal playoff victory over Sachem North, Ja’Quan Thomas put together another monster game, racking up 232 rushing yards on 30 carries and scoring three touchdowns. AJ Cannet picked up 135 yards on 8 of 12 passing while throwing two touchdowns – one each to Jack Molini and Joshua Jordan. Aaron Fisher and Jayden Johnson were dominant on defense, recording nine tackles each which included three for a loss and two sacks, respectively. Kris Watkins and Aisays Wallace added an interception apiece in the win.

In the Suffolk County title game, the Colonials will look to avenge Ward Melville who was responsible for their only loss this season, a 22-21 nail biter determined in the final seconds as Ward Melville stalled what would have been a go-ahead two-point conversion attempt.

The Colonials have won 14 Suffolk County titles including in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2023, along with five Long Island Championships in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2011 and 2012.

Colonials Defeat Sachem East in Quarterfinals 43-22

The No. 1 William Floyd Colonials varsity football team, led by head coach Paul Longo, had a dominating 43-22 win over No. 8 Sachem East in the quarterfinals of the Suffolk County Division I playoffs this past Saturday! The Colonials have now advanced to the semifinals where they will host No. 4 Sachem North on Saturday, November 16 at 12 pm. The Colonials defeated Sachem North 48-28 on October 19. With a victory this weekend, the Colonials will head back to Stony Brook University for the Suffolk County Championship game!

In the game, Ja’Quan Thomas, behind a punishing offensive line, led the charge rushing 26 times for 303 yards while scoring all six Colonial touchdowns and a two-point conversion. A.J. Cannet completed nine of 10 passes for 75 yards in the win. Jack Molini led the team in receiving with three catches for 36 yards while Geo Alvarez hauled in four catches for 22 yards. Leading the way on defense was Zamari Wilkins, who had a team-high 10 tackles (four for a loss) and three sacks. Aaron Fisher added seven tackles of his own, including one tackle for a loss.
