It was a strong spring season for William Floyd athletics, as four teams qualified for the playoffs, both the boys’ and girls’ track & field teams had winning seasons in League I competition, there were numerous individual awards and honors including the boys’ tennis team fielding a student-athlete in the state championships! See below for a season summary of each team and a list of student-athletes who earned awards for their efforts during the 2026 season.

Baseball – Head Coach Keith Kobasiuk
The William Floyd varsity baseball team qualified for the playoffs for a third consecutive season after finishing with a 12-6 record in League I play. In the playoffs, the Colonials lost to Ward Melville and Patchogue-Medford in the double-elimination tournament, to end their season, but they put together a fantastic 12-win season overall!

All-League: Gabriel Beta, Jacob Cooke, Aidan Dobrie, Andrew Marino and Kiernyn Mehmel


Flag Football – Head Coach Ron Krawczyk
The William Floyd varsity flag football team finished with a 9-3 record and qualified for the playoffs for a second consecutive season. The Colonials also picked up their second playoff win when they defeated the No. 5 seed Walt Whitman 26-19 in the quarterfinal round. Although their run ended in the semifinals against No. 1 seeded Half Hollow Hills, the Colonials played an impressive game by staying within one score of an undefeated team that finished their season as county and state champions.

Boys’ Lacrosse – Head Coach Desmond Megna
The William Floyd boys’ varsity lacrosse team clinched their second consecutive playoff berth after finishing the regular season with a 10-6 overall record. The Colonials then proceeded to win their first playoff game in several years when they defeated No. 9 South Fork by a 13-7 final score in the first round.

All-County Honorable Mention: Avery Bent, Marquis Johnson and Brett Shaw
Coach of the Year: Desmond Megna


Girls’ Lacrosse – Head Coach Nicole Alesi
The William Floyd girls’ varsity lacrosse team extended the program’s outstanding playoff streak to six consecutive years after finishing the regular season with a 11-3 record in Division I play. After a first-round bye, the Colonials lost a heartbreaker to Connetquot 11-10.

All-Division: Khloe DiMaio, Jayla Pimentel and Samantha Seaman


Softball – Head Coach Frederick Luhrs
The William Floyd varsity softball team fielded a young roster that spent the season improving their skills and making strides toward becoming a potential playoff competitor next season. They picked up victories over Bellport, Walt Whitman and Brentwood on the season.

Boys’ Tennis – Head Coach Michael Clauberg
Sophomore Vidal Macchia made William Floyd boys’ varsity tennis program history by becoming its first student-athlete to earn All-State honors. Vidal made a run to the Suffolk County Championship singles match for a second consecutive season and subsequently qualified for the state tournament. He also had a great run in the state tournament, winning his round of 32 and round of 16 matchups to advance further than any other William Floyd tennis player, boy or girl, previously had. Although his tournament run ended in the quarterfinals, Vidal won in the 5th Place Draw and finished among the top-five boys’ tennis players in the state.

Boys’ Track & Field – Head Coach Ed Noll
The William Floyd boys’ varsity track & field team finished with a 5-1 record in League I competition and sent 14 individual student-athletes and their 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay teams to the county championship meet, as well as an additional six student-athletes to the state qualifier meet.

All-League: Matthew Benjamin, Divine Bennett, Temarr Burwell, Richie Gielarowski, Christian Hobson, Jordan Hua, Nick Lattanzi, Zavier Jenkins, Holden Lentini, Duncan Mahnken and Isaiah Taylor


Girls’ Track & Field – Head Coach John Ryan
The William Floyd girls’ varsity track & field team finished with a 5-1 record in League I competition and sent nine individual student-athletes plus their 4x400m relay and 4x800m relay teams to the county championship meet and an additional three student-athletes plus their 4x800m relay team to the state qualifier meet.

Individual Honors
All-League: Anise Cobb, Esther Delille, Coral Macchia, Allana Morgan, Camille Obi, Jazz Paul, Angelle Sainteus, Brianna Smith and Serenity Wenger
