Six student ensembles from both William Floyd Middle School and William Paca Middle School recently had the opportunity to perform at the annual Long Island Music Festival! Each ensemble was rated by a panel of adjudicators at Suffolk County Community College and earned the highest possible rating of Superior!

Judging was based on several categories in their performances, including technique, musicality, intonation and rhythm, and overall tone quality. The primary objective of the Long Island Music Festival is to bring student-musicians and experienced adjudicators together for a positive, constructive learning experience. In addition to having their performance rated, the student-musicians also participated in a clinic with the adjudicators to focus and expand on a specific aspect of their performance.

The Superior-rated ensembles include:

William Paca Middle School
8th Grade Band: Mr. Joseph Cordaro, director – SUPERIOR
8th Grade Orchestra: Ms. Gabriella Forgit, director – SUPERIOR
Voce Verde Chorus: Ms. Maggie D’Orio, director – SUPERIOR

William Floyd Middle School
8th Grade Band: Mrs. Dawn Conefry, director – SUPERIOR
7th and 8th Grade Mixed Chorus: Mrs. Debora-Ann Tomko, director – SUPERIOR
8th Grade Orchestra: Mrs. Amanda Gardner, director – SUPERIOR

Congratulations to all of the student-musicians and their teachers on this outstanding accomplishment!
