The William Floyd School District recently welcomed members of the Rotary Club of Shirley and the Mastics to recognize William Floyd High School senior Kyle Caputo as the “Robert Guerriero Rotary Student of the Month” for February.

Kyle is described as someone who has the qualities of a great student, exuding a passion for knowledge while serving as a role model for his peers. Kyle excels academically and as a musician, while balancing extra-curricular activities with service to his community. He has been a valued member and leader in the district’s award-winning Youth and Government program, who served as chief justice at this year’s conference. Kyle also volunteers at the Mastic Beach Ambulance Company and the Mastic Beach Conservancy. He has been recognized by government officials including NYS Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli and former Congressman Lee Zeldin for his leadership and invaluable service to the community.

Kyle has attended William Floyd schools K-12 including Tangier Smith Elementary School and William Paca Middle School.

The Robert Guerriero Student of the Month Award is named in honor of former Board of Education vice president Robert Guerriero and longtime Rotarian, who passed away in October 2022. 

This ceremony was attended by district and school officials, including Kevin M. Coster, superintendent of schools; Philip Scotto, principal, William Floyd High School; Peter Lesiewicz, teacher, William Floyd High School; family members; Suffolk County Legislator Jim Mazzarella, and Rotary Club members.
