distance learning - photo of a laptop with books next to it in front of a bookcase

As a result of the feedback of the parent survey on re-opening schools, the William Floyd School District will now be offering a remote option for Stage 1 for those who do not feel comfortable sending their children to school and/or with high-risk family members in their household. This addition to the hybrid plan will assist with social distancing in schools and on buses.

Please note that we are still in the process of developing this plan and will share the information in the coming weeks. Additionally, the remote option will be limited in its offerings and focus on the core subjects required for graduation. Please note that this remote option is available for Stage 1 only at this time (September through November). Parents who elect for the full remote option, will be required to have their children learn remotely for the duration of Stage 1.

Parents who are choosing to have their children’s education being fully remote during Stage 1 (September through November), please fill out the Virtual Learning sign-up form here (English and Spanish). (You must fill out separate forms if you have multiple children). Update: Please note that any requests for schedule changes should be requested to your child's school or guidance counselor.

Additionally, we will be hosting a virtual meeting on re-opening schools on Tuesday, August 11 at 6:30 pm. Please note this meeting is now virtual only, per statements by Governor Cuomo earlier this week. This meeting will be available by livestream and parents can follow along on the district YouTube channel. Parents, please send in your questions to coronavirus@wfsd.k12.ny.us and they will be answered on Tuesday night.

***The district still has not received back approximately 1,000 chrome books from the end of the last school year. Please return borrowed chrome books as soon as possible, so they can be re-imaged and prepared for the 2020-21 school year.

Please note that these plans are pending Governor Cuomo's approval of school re-openings.
