The William Floyd School District has recently learned that the Advantage/LEAPS (Learning and Enrichment After-School Program Support) afterschool program offered to middle school students in the district will not be funded by the NYS Office of Child & Family Services (OCFS). Please click here for the full letter from the Economic Opportunity Council of Suffolk (EOC), Inc., detailing this decision.

The EOC is encouraging affected families to reach out to the OCFS to share what the program means to them. (Please see graphic below).

Additionally, the district plans to reach out to our elected leaders to share its concerns with this decision, especially with New York State recently announcing an increase of nearly $18 million to fund afterschool programs across the state. If this decision remains unchanged, the district will seek alternatives such as SCOPE afterschool programs, and will try to provide it for as minimal cost as possible.
