community donors and school staff members are pictured with over 100 donated backpacks

Administrators and teachers from the William Floyd School District are pictured with representatives from the New York State Chaplain Task Force and Represent Church.

The New York State Chaplain Task Force and Represent Church recently partnered to donate approximately 140 backpacks for students in the William Floyd School District. Each of the backpacks came filled with essential school supplies and have been distributed to students at both the elementary and secondary level who were in need of new supplies for the school year, particularly the Floyd Academy and the William Floyd Learning Center. Members from both organizations visited the William Floyd Learning Center to deliver their donation alongside several WFSD teachers and administrators.

The NYS Chaplain Task Force and Represent Church have made several donations to the district throughout the years and have helped more than 400 students with their generosity. Their generous efforts have also extended to William Floyd teachers, as they have provided care packages to 12 teachers over the past two years for going above and beyond for their students.

Standing in the front row alongside representatives from the New York State Chaplain Task Force and Represent Church are WFSD care package recipients (l-r) Jessica Alvi, Jamie Sticht, Gayle Lambert and Kathleen Colucci.

This year, one teacher from every school was selected for their outstanding work. The recipients include:

Emma Johnson – William Floyd High School
Gayle Lambert – Floyd Academy
Helene Hazzard – William Floyd Middle School
Patricia Mallon – William Paca Middle School
Erin Tejada – John S. Hobart Elementary School
Jamie Sticht – Moriches Elementary School
Jessica Alvi – Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School
Jaelyn Grego – Tangier Smith Elementary School
Melissa Pirnat – William Floyd Elementary School
Kathleen Colucci – William Floyd Learning Center

Special thanks to the NYS Chaplain Task Force and Represent Church for their continuous support of William Floyd students and teachers!
