Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School recently hosted its second annual “Woodhullgiving” celebration, an event designed to bring the school community together in a fun way and help provide meals for those who may need them leading up to Thanksgiving.
At the event, there were several shared tables of canned and boxed food items available for community members donated by the Woodhull school community. The Suffolk County Police Department also donated 30 full Thanksgiving meals to Woodhull families as they had during the first Woodhullgiving celebration held last school year.
Students and families who attended also had the opportunity to participate in a number of outdoor activities including dancing, arts and crafts, cornhole, pictures at a photobooth, playing on the playground, jumping in the bounce house and going on a scavenger hunt.
“I am deeply grateful for the collective spirit of our school community – students, teachers, staff, families and members of the larger community,” said Dr. Murillo. “Nathaniel Woodhull is an amazing place where everyone consistently comes together for others and celebrates a sense of togetherness. Everyone who participated was truly able to embody the essence of gratitude!”
The Woodhull Student Council under the leadership of Diane Catania, along with Kaitlin O’Keife and Jacquelynn Ciolino, Dr. Murillo and assistant principal Erica Peralta, along with all who had a role in organizing Woodhullgiving did a fantastic job in bringing this beloved community event to fruition once again. Special thanks to Bounce ‘N’ Fun Party Rentals for providing the photobooth and Awesome Bouncers & Party Rentals, LLC, for providing the bounce house.
