The faculty at Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School closed out the 2024-25 school year by putting a big twist on a time-honored elementary school tradition – field day. On the last day of school, Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School hosted its first-ever Faculty Field Day competition. School principal Dr. Heather Murillo, assistant principal Mrs. Erica Peralta and 34 of the dedicated teachers and staff at Nathaniel Woodhull dressed up in large, inflatable costumes and competed in a variety of fun-filled activities in front of the entire student body.

The activities were met with thunderous applause and laughter from the students and staff, who gathered as spectators to cheer on their favorite teachers and staff members. The participating faculty members broke into several teams and were competing for bragging rights and the first-ever Nathaniel Woodhull Faculty Field Day trophy! At the end of the day, a team consisting of Woodhull’s fourth- and fifth-grade teachers stood tall as the inaugural champions of the Woodhull faculty field day! The event concluded with a parade in which all of the students got to share high fives with the competing faculty members who put on a memorable show for them.

“The event was created in collaboration with the Student Council and their advisor, Mrs. Catania, as well as Woodhull’s physical education teacher, Mr. Campbell, as a way to celebrate the end of the school year, build school spirit, and bring the community together,” said Dr. Murillo. “Their collaboration resulted in a fun and meaningful experience that emphasized connection, positivity and the importance of shared school experiences outside the classroom.”

With the tremendous amount of laughter, teamwork and unforgettable moments that came about from this brand-new event, the Faculty Field Day is well on its way to becoming a beloved Woodhull tradition for years to come! Congratulations to the following participants on this successful event:
