They earned the No. 4 seed in the Section XI playoff bracket and will host No. 5 Walt Whitman on Monday, May 18 at 4:15 pm at the Lincoln Avenue Sports Complex Turf Field.

The team is led by senior Vinte’ya Rountree, an All-County honoree who is a force to be reckoned with whenever she’s on the field. She leads the team with more than 600 rushing yards (top 10 in Suffolk County) and receiving yards on offense and also leads the team with 128 flag pulls (top four in Suffolk County) and eight interceptions (top 10 in Suffolk County) as a defender. The Colonials have been an excellent defensive team throughout this season, only allowing their opponents to cross the 20-point threshold on two occasions while also recording six shutouts.

“Vinte’ya Rountree has played at such an elite level defensively that she was named the Defensive Player of the Year in Suffolk County League I,” said Coach Krawczyk. “Mya Watkins has been playing great defensively and we added some new, athletic, fast players in Kori Ricks, Diondra Hooten and Brielle Ward-Appiah.” Coach Krawcyzk also noted the growth of the returning players from last year as a major contributor to this year’s success.

The Colonials ended their season on an eight-game winning streak highlighted by three consecutive shutouts in their final three games of the season.  After making history with their first-ever playoff win last year, the Colonials are on a mission to make history yet again and make their first-ever appearance in the Suffolk County championship game.

Their commitment, effort and teamwork have played a major role in earning them a spot in the playoffs.”

The road to a potential Suffolk County championship game won’t be easy, as there are many tough competitors in the playoff field, but the Colonials and their battle-tested roster are more than capable of going on a run.

“The keys to an extended playoff run will be continuing to play as a united team, sticking to our game plan and staying disciplined in high-pressure moments,” added Coach Alesi. “If the girls continue to play with the same determination, confidence and work ethic that brought them here, they will put themselves in a great position to compete deep into the postseason.”
