SCMEA Senior Scholarship winner Alexander Irolla and his family are pictured alongside Floyd Academy principal John DeBenedetto, Coordinator of Music Dr. Amy Sckipp and music educator Mick Singh. 

Floyd Academy student Alexander Irolla was recently selected as the William Floyd School District’s recipient of the Suffolk County Music Educators Association (SCMEA) senior scholarship, which recognizes one student from each Suffolk County-based school district with a $200 award for their commitment to music, excellence in their musicianship and recommendation from their teachers.

Alexander is a passionate student-musician that is particularly interested in the guitar and has exemplified a strong dedication to his music studies both in the classroom and in numerous extracurricular activities. He was also named a winner of the High Achievement Award at the annual William Floyd High School Academic Awards Night for maintaining a grade point average of at least 85 or over throughout his high school career.  

Alexander is planning to attend Suffolk County Community College in the fall, where he will pursue an Associate of Science in Music with a focus on composition.
