Homecoming is back! There is a great lineup of homecoming festivities this year as this fun high school tradition makes its return with Spirit Week, the pep rally, the homecoming parade on Saturday morning, the post-parade homecoming crowning and culminating with the football game as the defending Suffolk County Champion William Floyd Colonials take on Sachem North at 1:30 pm. The theme for this year is “Falling for Floyd.”
Throughout this week, high school students are participating in Spirit Week consisting of specially-themed days including Camo Day, We Wear Pink on Wednesdays, Country vs. Country Club and Floyd Friday (Green & White Day)!
The homecoming parade is set to begin at 11:45 am on Saturday morning (*weather permitting) with a route starting at the William Floyd High School south lot and marching past William Paca Middle School and Tangier Smith Elementary School en route to the football field where the crowning will take place at approximately 12:30 pm before the gridiron action begins with kickoff at 1:30 pm.
The parade, which is *contingent upon the weather with no rain date, includes many school and community groups. Participating groups are listed below. We hope all who participate enjoy the festivities. Go, Colonials!
William Floyd High School groups include the NJROTC, the Drumline, the Pep Band, the Gay-Straight Alliance, the varsity cheerleading team, the Rockettes, the varsity swim team, the varsity soccer team, the junior varsity cheerleading team, the junior varsity field hockey team, Youth and Government, freshman class council, sophomore class council, junior class council, senior class council, and the homecoming court. William Paca Middle School groups participating will be the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade class councils, the field hockey team, and the cheerleading team. William Floyd Middle School groups include the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade class councils, the National Junior Honor Society, the cheerleading team, the football team and the field hockey team. Also marching will be members of the William Floyd Board of Education, the William Floyd PTSO, the United Paraprofessional and Teaching Assistant Association, along with community groups and organizations such as the Mastic Beach Fire Department, the Mastic Fire Department, the Brookhaven Fire Department and the William Floyd Alumni Association, along with Lynvet football players and Lynvet cheerleaders. Also taking part in the festivities will be local elected officials New York State Senator Alexis Weik and Assemblyman Joseph DeStefano.
