Second-grade students in Ms. Strull, Mrs. Mocera and Ms. Verderosa’s classes at William Floyd Elementary School recently celebrated “International Dot Day,” in which they created their own dots using positive and negative space in the school STEM lab with Mrs. Baumiller! International Dot Day, held on September 15, is based on the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, a story that encourages children to try new or challenging things and display a “can do” attitude. To prepare, students read the book and then worked on designing their dots and bringing their visions to life!

Additionally, buddies in Mrs. Elarde’s fourth-grade class and Mrs. DeFelice’s first-grade class at Tangier Smith Elementary School also participated in International Dot Day. They worked together to connect, collaborate and create with just one dot!
