Colonials' Historic Season Comes to a Close
The William Floyd boys' varsity basketball team's historic season season comes to an end today as the Colonials lose to Bay Shore by a score of 65-59 in the Suffolk County Class AAA championship game.
The student-athletes - as they have done all season - showed tremendous resilience and left it all out on the court, epitomizing William Floyd strength, heart and spirit.
Despite the result, it was a memorable season for the program as the Colonials finish with a 22-1 overall record and a second consecutive league title.
Congratulations to head coach Will Slinkosky, assistant coaches Thomas Stines and Darrell Sumpter, and the student-athletes for putting together a tremendous season.
Colonials are Championship Bound!
The undefeated, League I champion William Floyd boys’ varsity basketball team are headed to the Section XI Class AAA championship game! The Colonials defeated Northport in the semifinals on Thursday, February 28 by a score of 68-41 to clinch their spot. The win also improved their overall record this season to a perfect 22-0!
The championship game will feature No. 1 William Floyd versus No. 1 Bay Shore and is scheduled for Saturday, March 2 at 5 pm. This game will be played at Longwood High School.
Section XI charges an admission fee for entry. There is a 2,400-seat capacity, so those who are interested in attending should purchase their tickets as soon as possible! Tickets cost $9.40 each. Click here for the link to purchase tickets. Cash is not accepted.

Playoff Update #1
The No. 2 William Floyd Colonials boys' varsity basketball team defeated No. 7 North Babylon by a score of 60-52 in the Section XI Class AAA quarterfinals! The Colonials controlled the game from the opening tip to the final buzzer – continuing their tremendous play this season. The victory also improved William Floyd’s overall record this season to a staggering 21-0!
Up next for the Colonials is a semifinal matchup against Northport on Wednesday, February 28 at 4:30 pm. Please note that the game will be played at Longwood High School.
During the season, William Floyd beat Northport 67-53 on December 29.
Section XI charges an admission fee for the playoffs - $8.35 per ticket ($7 plus $1.35 admission fee). Please follow this link to purchase. Please note that tickets are only available via the link (or QR code at the gate) and are NOT available to purchase by cash. Children 12 and under are free.
