group of educators at Moriches Coding and Cocoa night

Moriches Elementary School recently held their second annual coding night to kick off Computer Science Education Week and celebrate the Hour of Code! Computer Science Education Week is a yearly event designed to inspire K-12 students to become involved and learn about computer science! This year’s event, spearheaded and coordinated by fourth-grade teachers Leah Olivo and Carly Wickers, was open to all grade levels with the theme of “Coding and Cocoa.”

Students had a great time participating in plugged and unplugged activities, and completed various computer science tasks such as using a binary code to create bracelets, coded and programmed KIBO cars and Ozobots, and used Chromebooks to code! As an added bonus, students enjoyed hot cocoa and a treat together!
