William Floyd Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, Stephen Filosa, Class of 1994, starred for the William Floyd Colonials basketball team as a guard. Stephen was a key contributor on the 1994 Suffolk County championship team that finished the championship season with a 21-1 record under the leadership of Coach Robert Hodgson Sr. With the Colonials down by two points (53-51) with 22 seconds left in the championship game against Southampton, Stephen made the game-winning three-point shot to put the Colonials up for good, 54-53. He followed up that clutch shot with a mid-court steal to help seal the victory.

Stephen was a three-year member of the varsity basketball team and earned All-League honors as a junior, and All-County honors as a senior. He also received the Gold Key award for his proficiency in interscholastic athletics as a senior.

After graduation, Stephen played for Suffolk County Community College for two years and earned the role of team captain. He helped lead the team to the No. 1 defense in the nation in 1995-1996, averaged 11.6 points per game and was top 10 in the NJCAA for three pointers that season.

Stephen then transferred to Alfred University in Alfred, NY, where he finished out his collegiate career playing for the Saxons. At Alfred, he also earned the role of team captain during his senior year and helped lead the team to 18-10 overall record. Stephen averaged 15.3 points per game and still holds two Alfred University individual records – most steals in a game (10), and most three-pointers in a game (9). Stephen graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He owns a construction company named Iron Mike Construction and Design Corp. Stephen is married with three children, who all currently attend school in the William Floyd School District.
