The 2007 William Floyd High School varsity football team is one of the greatest teams in Long Island football history. Culminating in a 42-0 shutout victory in the Long Island Championship game over Farmingdale and winning the coveted Rutgers Trophy, the Colonials also gained national recognition by Sports Illustrated as one of the nation’s top 25 high school football teams. This team won their third consecutive Long Island Championship, spanning a 36-0 span, and added to the then Long Island record 42-game winning streak.

Under the leadership of Hall of Fame head coach Paul Longo, the team finished a perfect 11-0, with their closest game being decided by three touchdowns. The Colonials finished the season outscoring their opponents 446 to 62, a truly dominant group. Gil DeCicco, this year’s coaching honoree, served as the team’s defensive coordinator.
