Caitlyn Fioto, a William Floyd High School student in Michael Devenney’s 11th-grade English class, recently used persuasive writing to secure tickets to a New York Islanders game! Caitlyn and her classmates were participating in a letter-writing campaign titled, “The Power of Persuasion,” in which students write letters to famous and influential people who have impacted them personally, and use their writing skills to convince the recipient to send back a small token or something to cherish and motivate them as writers.
