On Friday, September 24th, William Floyd Elementary School will begin the school year with an exciting experience for their children. Keith Fasciana, the building principal, and Margaret Finne, the school librarian, are transforming their classrooms and hallways of Floyd Elementary into galleries, farms, ecology centers , and even a NASA training center for a day…labeled by the school as their 7th Annual Museum Day.

Fifteen local museums, cultural institutions, and parents are bringing their exhibits, wares, and interactive experiences to the school; teaching the students about the various cultures, arts, historical events, environments, and creatures of the world.

The Colonial Life Museum will provide a journey into the past. A blacksmith, carpenter, and chef will be teaching our children about life in the colonial times using authentic tools, and materials.
While the Cradle of Aviation will be helping our students’ imaginations blast off into space exploring our universe and its future. Activities from other museums and institutions included: excursions into our local habitats to view wildlife, DNA investigations, and much, much more!!

Today was Museum Day. I learned about the lizard at Museum Day. I got to pet the lizard. Its skin was spiky.

Today was Museum Day. We went to the Reptile Museum. I saw a snake and a bearded dragon. I saw a frog too but a frog is not a reptile.

Today is Museum Day. I saw reptiles. One of the things was a box turtle. We got to feel its shell. The shell felt weird! The turtle looked like it was swimming. The box turtle was funny!
