Exhibits and Museums
On Friday, September 18th, William Floyd Elementary School began the school year with an inspiring experience for their children. Keith Fasciana, the building principal, and Margaret Finne, the school librarian, transformed classrooms and hallways of Floyd Elementary into galleries, farms, bakeries, and even a NASA training center for a day…labeled by the school as their 6th Annual Museum Day. This year, a new piece was added to the successful event, Career Craze, where parents were invited to share their interesting careers or professions with the students as well.

Ten local museums, cultural institutions, and parents brought their exhibits, wares, and interactive experiences to the school; teaching the students about the various cultures, arts, historical events, environments, and creatures of the world.
The Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities (SPLIA) provided a journey into the past by allowing the children to investigate and find the real answers behind the well known phrase, “Sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite”, while the Cradle of Aviation helped students’ imaginations blast off into space exploring our universe and its future. Activities from other museums and institutions included: excursions into our local habitats to view wildlife, DNA investigations, and much, much more!!
