This past weekend, the William Floyd Colonials girls’ varsity track team under the leadership of head coach John Ryan competed in the New York State Qualifier Meet held at Comsewogue High School. The team put forth some great performances led by sophomore Tatianna Kistner who earned All-County honors and qualified for the New York State Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday, June 7-8 in Middletown, NY, with a 12.16 second 100-meter dash performance, a new school record. As a freshman last year, Tatianna was a member of the All-State 4×100-meter relay team and a member of the 2018 State Champion 4×200-meter relay team.
Additionally, senior Kianna Hawkins earned Academic All-County honors for her performance in the 4×100-meter relay combined with her stellar 96.7 grade point average. She also holds a William Floyd High School record in the 400-meter hurdles with a mark of 66.53 seconds. She also made a tremendous impact as a member of last year’s All-State 4×100-meter relay team and the 2018 State Champion 4×200-meter relay team. Kianna will be attending Long Island University in Brooklyn in the fall on a full academic/athletic scholarship.
This year’s 4×100-meter relay team of Kianna Hawkins, Kynita Bullard, Tatiana Kistner, Kylasia Bullard and Alaysia Cobb ran a season-best time of 48.76 seconds, the fourth-best time ran in Suffolk County this season, narrowly missing the New York State Track and Field Championship qualifying time by just .29 seconds.
Congratulations on a great season and good luck to Tatianna this weekend at the state championships!
