The William Floyd High School Counseling Center recently held its third and largest on-site admissions event of the year, which provides seniors with the opportunity to have one-on-one meetings with admissions counselors from a variety of local colleges, universities and trade schools right in their own school! At on-site events, students have their transcripts and applications evaluated, and can talk to admissions representatives about what each school has to offer and to see if they would be a good fit. At this event alone, admissions representatives awarded more than $235,000 in scholarships to students; and, so far this year, the Counseling Center has facilitated on-site admissions meetings with more than half of the graduating class!
The colleges, universities and trade schools in attendance at this event included SUNY Albany, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Delhi, Eastern Suffolk BOCES, Five Towns College, SUNY Farmingdale, SUNY Fredonia, Hunter Business School, LIU Post, Mercy College, Molloy College, Mount Saint Mary’s College, St. Joseph’s College, Suffolk County Community College and SUNY Old Westbury.
This On-Site College Admissions event took place during National School Counseling Week, held during the first week of February, which is designated to recognize and highlight the tremendous impact that school counselors have in helping students achieve success in school and plan for a future career.
Additionally, please mark your calendars for the annual College Fair & Career Expo on Wednesday, April 17 for grades K-12! There will be more than 100 colleges, universities, service organizations and technical schools in attendance, as well workshops for parents on financial aid, the college search and admissions process and more!
