With February coming to a close and spring on the way, we get ready to kick off “Youth Art & Music Month” during the month of March. Throughout the month, there will be several exciting and informative meetings and events occurring.
On Monday, March 4, there will be a Districtwide Art Show & Art Appreciation Night from 6-8 pm at William Floyd High School. Come and see the work of our talented student-artists!
Then on Tuesday, March 5, “Night of 1,000 Strings” will take place in the William Floyd High School auditorium beginning at 7 pm. Come and hear the beautiful sounds of William Floyd student-musicians on their string instruments!
On Wednesday, March 6, there will be two transition meetings for students in performing groups both held in the William Floyd High School auditorium. Beginning at 6 pm, there will be a “Fifth to Sixth Grade Performing Group Transition Meeting” for families and current fifth graders in band, chorus and orchestra. Following that meeting at 7 pm, there will be the “Eighth to Ninth Grade Performing Group Transition Meeting” for band, chorus and orchestra students and their families transitioning from eighth to ninth grade.
Then on Friday, March 15, the annual Music Faculty Scholarship Concert will take place at William Floyd Middle School beginning at 6:30 pm. This event showcases the incredible talent of our award-winning music teachers and raises money for scholarships for graduating seniors pursuing music education in college. The event raised $3,100 last year and approximately $150,000 since its inception 35 years ago. Doors open at 6:30 pm and there is a $5 donation per ticket. Please have your child see a music teacher for tickets. Mark your calendars and we hope to see you there!
