Rajana Heron, a fifth-grade student at Moriches Elementary School, is the William Floyd School District artist of the month for January!
Rajana, a student in Linda Tucci’s art class, started drawing regularly at about age four. She enjoys using various mediums including pencil and cotton swabs for shading. Ms. Tucci explained that Rajana draws on her imagination to create her favorite subjects such as landscapes, animals, people and wings. “She draws as a way to express herself and to relax,” said Ms. Tucci. “She is inspired by her surroundings and takes inspiration in the work of others.”
Ms. Tucci, who recognizes Rajana’s immense talent and potential, added that her work has been entered into various art and poster contests across the county. Rajana also enjoys cooking and one day might like to open a restaurant with her sister so they can display all of their culinary and artistic talents.
