In a letter dated November 1, 2018, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services has informed the district that a student at William Floyd High School was diagnosed with pertussis, a respiratory illness also known as whooping cough. The diagnosis was made on October 18 and the student has been treated and cleared to return to school. The Suffolk County Department of Health strongly recommended that this information be shared with our community for awareness and informational purposes.
