Members of the William Floyd High School Interact Club, a student offshoot of the Rotary Club of Shirley and the Mastics, recently volunteered at a pancake breakfast at Applebee’s in Shirley to help raise money for student scholarships. At the breakfast, club members assisted Rotary members by helping seat guests, serving breakfast and cleaning up at the conclusion of the event.
According to Interact Club advisor Elizabeth Reising, Interact participates in various community-oriented events throughout the year such as fundraisers, food donation drives, a “jeans for teens” collection and other various clothing drives. Interact has also contributed to the fight against ALS and cancer as well as delivered holiday cards for soldiers and veterans.
The Interact Club will soon begin preparing to host their annual Christmas party for the district’s universal pre-kindergarten students who will receive a special visit from Santa Claus and receive a toy collected by the WFHS National Honor Society during their annual toy drive.
