Lynn Dorfer Green, a 1968 graduate, attended William Floyd School District from first grade and has many happy memories of her dear friends and classmates. Upon graduating, she earned her registered nursing degree at Mary Immaculate Hospital School of Nursing. Thereafter, she married her husband, Robert Green, and continued her nursing career in New York, Iowa and Massachusetts. Her passion in her nursing career was emergency room nursing, however, she also enjoyed medical-surgical nursing and was a nursing supervisor at the Massachusetts General – Massachusetts Eye and Ear Hospital.
Later, as a clinical and theory instructor at the Mid Suffolk School for Practical Nursing, she taught medical nursing, pediatrics, obstetrics, geriatrics, emergency room, recovery room, operating room and intensive care nursing and pharmacology. A year after the nursing program merged with C.W. In August 1985, Lynn finally was able to achieve her dream and attend Touro College Justice Fuchsburg Law School, where she was a member of Law Review and earned the Juris Prudence award for Criminal Law. Upon graduation in June 1988 with a Juris Doctorate degree, her daughter Jennifer graduated from high school, her daughter Amy graduated from eighth grade, and her son Timothy graduated kindergarten. What a year!
Over the course of the next 10 years, Lynn practiced law in the areas of medical malpractice and negligence, handling numerous major cases. She then began working for the New York State Courts in various positions over the ensuing 16 years, including as law secretary for Supreme Court and Family Court judges. Her career also included being a Family Court hearing examiner, Family Court attorney referee, Supreme Court Law Department, Supreme Court attorney referee and Small Claims Court arbitrator. Simultaneously, for 18 years, Lynn was the acting village justice for the Village of Bellport, where she and her husband resided for 30 years and raised their family.
Lynn and her husband Robert just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 14, 2018, Valentine’s Day. They have four grandchildren, Katie, Aidan, Riley and Finn, all of whom bring Lynn and her husband great joy.
