The daffodils are blooming and the trees are budding at Moriches Elementary School! Mother Nature has certainly been kind to us this past winter. Spring has sprung and we would like to provide you with some information about the planning and growth that have occurred recently in our building. We are making continuing efforts to upgrade our programs with the students in regards to academic achievement, health and safety.
We held our annual Science Fair on 4/6/17 at 6pm. We will be sending the exemplary projects to participate in the Brookhaven National Laboratory Science Fair contest which is on 5/6/17. We are very proud of all of our talented scientists at Moriches Elementary School. Moriches Elementary School will be hosting a Literacy Night on 4/27 at 6pm. There will be various stories being read that students can listen to and we will also have a table of gently used books that families can take home and add to their home book collections. We hope to see you there.
Now that the weather has warmed up, students will be going out for recess every day. We want our children to go outside and get as much exercise as possible. Please make sure students have appropriate footwear and clothing to maintain their safety on the playground and field. We hosted a Blood Drive on March 20th. Thank you to everyone who donated. We collected 43 pints of blood and had 55 attempted donors. Thank you for helping to save lives and give back to our community. College awareness day is 4/20/17. We will be asking students and staff to wear their college attire to school on that day. The district will be hosting a College Fair at the William Floyd High School from 6-8pm. All elementary students are encouraged to attend.
