Netflix recently launched 13 Reasons Why, a fictional dramatization based on a popular novel of the same name. It is a cautionary tale of a young girl’s suicide, which covers other sensitive subject matter as the series progresses. In response to the series, The JED Foundation and SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) developed talking points to assist parents, teachers, and other gatekeepers in talking to youth about suicide as it relates to the situational drama that unfolds in this fictional dramatization.
