Kevin Coster, the new Superintendent of Schools for the William Floyd School District, took the oath of office in the district’s administrative offices on Wednesday, July 1. Mr. Coster has been an educator for 18 years, spending the first six as a teacher and the last 12 as an administrator in the William Floyd School District. The William Floyd School District serves approximately 8,700 students that attend eight schools from the communities of Mastic, Mastic Beach, Moriches and Shirley.
Below is the transcript of an email Mr. Coster sent to all faculty and staff on his first day as Superintendent of Schools.
I am very excited to start this journey with you as the new superintendent and look forward to building upon the strong foundation started by Dr. Casciano. Together, we have achieved great things; and I know that through hard work and dedication, we will continue our upward trend as a school district.
I recognize the talent throughout the ranks here at William Floyd and know that together we will continue to grow and be a first-place organization. We have 8,700 reasons to come to work every day and do the absolute best job that we can to prepare the leaders of tomorrow.
So let me take this opportunity to thank you for all that you do for our students, our district and our community; I look forward to continue serving right beside you as superintendent.
I know that the best is yet to come for our district. Together, with our students, we are all William Floyd.
