The William Floyd High School Student Government, the William Floyd NJROTC and the Moriches Elementary Student Council recently welcomed nearly 50 area senior citizens to the annual Senior Citizen Dance and luncheon in the William Floyd High School gymnasium.
Local seniors from various organizations including the Bay Area Nutrition Center, Belle of the Ball, Red Hatters, St. George Manor Seniors, Silver Sneakers and South Haven Seniors attended and were treated to a relaxing afternoon of lunch and dessert served by members of the William Floyd High School Student Government. Members of the William Floyd NJROTC kicked off the event with the presentation of colors and the Moriches Elementary School Student Council assisted by providing baked goods for dessert.
“It is always fun to watch the interactions between the senior groups and our students,” said Julie Fortier, co-advisor, William Floyd High School Student Government. “They all appear nervous at first, but dancing always brings the two groups together. Not only did they assist in helping them get their food and drink, the elementary and high school students took turns dancing with the seniors and appeared to be having as much fun as they were.”
